Jacob's Ladder has been cultivated in gardens since Roman times for it's attractive ferny foliage and abundant blue early summer flowers.
'Purple Rain' is an atypical form of Jacob's Ladder with black-purple, fading to green foliage. Worth growing for the foliage alone, but the large blue-purple flowers held on purple stems are also stunning.
Grow in sun for best foliage color. Prefers consistently moist, humus-rich soil. Deadhead to encourage rebloom.
