Melica altissima var. atropurpurea

Siberian melic is a clump forming, non-invasive grass from Europe. In mid-summer, the soft green foliage is topped by spikes of purplish-brown inflorescences. Seed heads turn lovely shades of russet-brown in fall. Easy to grow in sun or shade. Self-sows gently.
