Iris versicolor 'Purple Flame'

Here is an iris with beautiful foliage. New leaves emerge deep eggplant purple in early spring and hold that color for several weeks before transitioning to solid green. Traditional, large purple iris flowers are a pollinator favorite.

We grow this iris in the pond, but it is equally at home in the average or moist border.
