American wintergreen is an excellent, fragrant evergreen ground cover for heavily shaded areas. 'Redwood' is a particularly healthy and vigorous cultivar with light pink bell flowers and large brilliant red berries.

Grow this eastern North American native in slightly acidic, organically rich soil for best results.
