Pinks require excellent drainage, protection from winter wet, protection from spring winds, and protection from rabbits. Yet, who can have a garden without them? We delight in their fragrance, evergreen foliage, charming flowers, and long bloom time.
'Albus' is an unusual variety with starry white flowers. This variety may be ideal for the beginning gardener as it is easier to grow and hardier than many of its relatives. It will self-seed if happy and always produces true white seedlings. Give it excellent drainage and fairly alkaline soil.
Fun fact: The name Pinks does not actually refer to the color but to the serrated edge of the petals which resembles the zigzag edge created by Pinking Shears used by tailors.
WARNING: May cause minor vomiting or stomach upset if ingested. Sap or juice may cause dermatitis.
