Cupid's Dart is essentially the perennial version of Cornflower. 'Alba' has papery white flowers that appear continually from early summer to early fall over grass-like, grey-green foliage. Flowers are followed by attractive seed heads which look lovely in fall arrangements. Single specimens may be lost in the garden so plant in groups of three or five for a better display. A Mediterranean native, C. caerulea prefers full sun, well-drained soil, and a touch of lime.
Fun fact:
The Ancient Greeks and Romans used the flowers as a main ingredient in love potions. Flowers are still used for bouquets in Greece as a love symbol.
