Aristolochia fimbriata
Aristolochia fimbriata
White Veined Hardy Dutchman's Pipe is one of 350 species in the Aristolochia family - who knew! A. fimbriata is an unusual deciduous ground cover hardy only in zones 7 and up. We grow it for its rounded heart-shaped green leaves that are heavily veined with silver-white and curious brown and yellow fringed flowers. The slender trailing stems look beautiful cascading down the sides of a container.
One of the host plants for the caterpillars of pipevine swallowtail butterflies.
Easy to grow and easy to overwinter in an unheated basement in colder zones.
