Andropogon gerardii
Andropogon gerardii
Andropogon is a large genus of grasses that can be found across the globe. The species we grow are all attractive North American natives (or nativars) suitable for use in borders, erosion control, screening, and/or prairie plantings.
Big Blue Stem is the tallest of the North American species. It can be found growing on moist or dry sites from central Mexico through most of the United States and into Canada. Clumps of blue-green summer leaves turn fabulous shades of copper, orange, and sometimes deep red in fall. Inflorescences are relatively inconspicuous. Grow this dramatic beauty for its height and color.
