Salix alba 'Silver Column' | white willow

ARCHIVED PLANT. This page serves as reference only. We are no longer propagating this plant.

'Silver Column' is one of the most beautiful and versatile silver-leaved trees available. Leaves are covered on both sides with soft, silky hairs; the white undersides of the leaves flash in the breeze. Foliage remains on the tree through late November/early December.

Can be grown as a large tree, which will be twice as tall as wide when mature, or it can be coppiced annually to maintain a smaller shrub size. Makes an excellent hedge or windbreak and is a great alternative to the highly invasive Russian Olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia).
