European Beech is a large, graceful shade tree that make a lovely statement in the landscape, yet it is incredibly versatile and also makes for an excellent hedge. The smooth, grey bark is distinctive as are the silky, elliptical leaves. Foliage turns deep copper-yellow in fall.

Easy to grow in most average garden soil, but will not tolerate wet or poorly drained soil. This tree is difficult to transplant; make sure you are happy with the location before planting.
