milky bellflower
Campanula lactiflora
Campanula lactiflora
Though sometimes considered old-fashioned, Campanula are a favorite genus of ours. We love the seemingly endless varieties of shapes, sizes, and colors. All are easy to grow in full sun, most are lime-lovers, none are too fussy about soil.
Milky bellflower is tall, stately, and showy. There are numerous cultivars, but we grow the straight species which is much less likely to flop. The open mound of light green leaves is nicely complimented by cluster of deep lavender to white star-shaped flowers. Easy to grow in part shade or full sun in any decently moist soil.
