Alcea rosea plena 'Chaters White' | hollyhock

ARCHIVED PLANT. This page serves as reference only. We are no longer propagating this plant.

Hollyhocks are a classic English cottage garden plant. They add architectural height to borders and bloom for months on end. Most are grown as biennials or short-lived perennials due to their susceptibility to rust or fungal diseases. We love them anyway and would not be without them. Grow in fertile, moist-but-well-drained soil in full sun for best results. Will self-sow.

'Chaters White' is the best double-white variety available. The pompom flowers grow so densely that the stem all but disappears as the flowers open. Provide a nice top-dressing of compost after planting for best blooms.
